Growing a human being inside your belly. Feeling another heartbeat under your own. Being pregnant is such a miracle and we should embrace every single moment of that special journey. But not every woman enjoys being pregnant because of different circumstances – and that’s totally OK. Remember that you won’t be pregnant forever. There will be hard times but it’s also the most rewarding periods in a woman’s life.
What we can do to feel more confident and beautiful while growing a baby inside our bellies?
We can honor ourselves, be kind and compassionate AND grateful for what our body is capable of doing.
Because it IS amazing!
Letting go of the idea of THE perfect pregnancy and especially THE perfect pregnancy body, always looking and feeling beautiful and having that permanent glow.
Let’s face it. It’s not going to be like that. No one looks perfect or feels confident every day. As your baby and your belly grows your body will change. Every woman has things she doesn’t like about herself – before pregnancy already! So it’s even easier during pregnancy to be very frustrated about our bodies – know it’s temporary and try to focus on the things you like. Being ok with how your body is changing, adapting and accepting it. It’s about tuning into your body, connecting with your body and ultimately finding your own beauty even though there will be changes you won’t love.
Embrace your body, it creates and sustains life – gives you the best thing in your life – your children!
Surround yourself with people who lift you up.
People who support you and help you feel strong and beautiful even on days you feel weak and lost.
Ask for help and talk about your feelings – share your thoughts, your happiness and worries.
Reach out to friends who are pregnant or who have had babies recently and talk about what’s to come.
Knowing that you are not alone and that you have the support you need will help you feel more confident!
Take some time to practice self care.
Take a relaxing bath, pamper yourself, go get your nails done, book a prenatal massage, go to a yoga class, etc. Show yourself some extra love because you deserve it!
During pregnancy, aches, pains and exhaustion can feel like the new normal as our bodies grow another little human being inside.
Spending time to take care of myself helped me become the best version of myself. Being a mom to an almost 2 year old and 36 weeks pregnant with our second, I still often forget how important it is to take that “me-time”.
So in the midst of all these changes, it’s crucial not to forget about taking time to connect with YOU.
Dress up and go on a romantic date with your partner. Spend some quality time together. Cherish your love and the time you have together! As a parent it can be hard to find time to be “just” husband and wife since the whole day revolve around your kids. If it’s your first pregnancy then enjoy that “free-time” even more.
Be kind to yourself.
Every woman is beautiful in her own way. Be kind to yourself, tell yourself you are beautiful and strong. Affirmations that boost your confident:
- I accept myself completely here and now
- I welcome changes in my body
- My baby is growing strong and healthy
- Pregnancy suits me perfectly
- I accept all my feelings as part of myself
- My heart knows what my baby needs, my mind is learning
- I trust my body
Do a maternity photoshoot. OK – that might sound like THE cliché. But I just feel like every woman should give it a shot even though she might not feel like doing it. Pregnancy is such a special and unique time in your life that you won’t be able to rewind. Invest in a maternity photoshoot to have some pictures to remember – and maybe to show them to your children and grandchildren some day.
I am so happy to have had the chance to collaborate with an amazing photographer and model for her to advertise and spread the maternity love!
I for sure have my issues with this pregnancy – such as other pregnant women. Most of the time I don’t feel beautiful or sexy at all – wearing yoga pants and no make up all day long and waddling like a penguin.
But when I look at those pictures I can see that even though my skin isn’t perfect, my face is bloated and I’m 30 pounds heavier than before – I am growing a human being in my belly and I am beautiful!
Buckle up your maternity pants and get ready to enjoy this amazing ride!
