I don’t know how I could ever forget how beautiful the Christmas season can be!
Somewhere between my childhood, my teenage lifestyle and becoming an adult I got lost in life and didn’t realize anymore how magical and wonderful Christmas is. Of course I went to have mulled wine (“Glühwein”) with friends and family and I was looking for Christmas gifts the last 15 years – but it was more like a yearly process for me not so much the “real meaning” of Christmas.
But that has now changed. Since last year I really startet to appreciate this season – I startet to create my own Christmas with Mark in our own home. And for the first time in my life the word “Christmas” takes in a completely different meaning.
To have our own little family and our own home change a lot for me. Being with the one you love, enjoying this special time together and just give yourself permission to let go of anything that doesn’t serve you feels really good. And the Christmas season got me early this year, maybe because there’s a little human being growing in my belly and I feel like spreading even more love and kindness into the world. It was only mid November and I was already excited for Christmas and especially everything which comes with it – Christmas decoration, baking cookies, eating Lebkuchen (german ginger bread!), visit the Christkindlmarkt, hiking in the snow, even listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies. While everyone is in a hurry, busy doing all kind of pre-christmasy stuff I feel absolutely calm. I just love walking around, smell the fresh air and feel the cold weather on my skin.
We will have a quiet beloved Christmas, just the two of us, looking back to this incredible year, having a lot of good food, watching good movies and enjoying the most cozy snuggle time of the year. I hope you guys have a wonderful pre-christmas time. Enjoy and don’t let anyone stress you!
One of my favorite songs at the moment is “Have yourself a merry little Christmas” (from “Us the Duo” and “Sam Smith” – I like both version so much!) Also I love the Michael Buble Christmas edition. One of my all time favorite Christmas movie (actually favorite movie in general) is “The Holiday” – definitely a must-see and never gets boring! What I also recommend is “Beauty and the Beast” with Emma Watson. This movie is brilliant! It’s not really a Christmas movie but I feel like it fits perfectly into the season.
Make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up and relax – Christmas is coming!
